Description of Information Learning Activity (ILA)
A
well-established method of applying inquiry-based learning in universities and
higher education institutes is by engaging in authentic research (Krause, 2010).
Hence, the decision to use the context of a research-based university subject
for this ILA seemed ideal. The participants for
this ILA are a small group of undergraduate Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)
students from a QLD university. The study will investigate students’
information-seeking processes as they embark on researching and synthesising
their Honours thesis topic and developing a research proposal. Data was collected over an
eight week period from the beginning of the university semester. Due to the time
constraints of this study, the researcher was unable to collect data over the
entire ILA process as it was set to run well beyond the 13-week university
semester. Data will be elicited from a three-part questionnaire and then coded and categorised by the researcher.

Hey Samantha, your ILA sounds very interesting. I like the use of the reference to support the integrity of the ILA.
ReplyDeleteSounds like an interesting ILA, What details will the undergraduates themselves be expected to deliver? Do they have a choice in the manner in which they present their findings or will they be given a set criteria they need to follow?
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing the results of this ILA as it mirrors our own studies this semester.
